🐹 🐰 🐶 Draw Your Pet 🐱 🐦 🐴
Choice #1: If you have a pet at your home such as a cat, a dog, a fish, a hamster, a snake, or whatever, please have your parent take a picture of your pet using a cell phone. Then, your job is to create a picture of your pet using any materials that you have available. You can color a picture, use markers, paint, or whatever comes to your mind. Your goal is to make a picture that looks like your pet. However, you can change it up a bit to make your pet really stand out. You can add wild colors, cool lines, or outrageous shapes. You can also draw your pet with his real colors and markings. Here are a few examples of colorful pets:
Choice #2: Lots of students don't have pets at home. So, if you don't have a pet at home, your assignment is to make up an imaginary pet (doesn't have to be real...like a unicorn or a fire-breathing dragon) and draw it OR ask your parent/guardian to search for a picture of a pet online or in a magazine that you think is awesome, and you can go ahead and create your picture using that pet. Here are some examples:
🖍Materials Needed:
If you use your actual pet, you may need some treats for him to take a picture! Otherwise, for both options, you will need paper and whatever materials you want to use to create the composition.
🖍What To Turn In:
Choice #1: Send in the picture of your pet and the picture you created. You are welcome to tell us a bit about your pet.
Choice #2: Send in the picture that you created. We would love to hear about your imaginary pet.

With your parents permission, view this video about Wacky Packages:
Design Your Own!
Your project this week is to design your own wacky package!
You can use any materials you want to alter a package in your house to make it fun and silly. I would suggest using your collage skills and cutting from newspaper and magazines to help change your package. You can also use marker or pen to change the look of your package.
Keep in mind, the titles of the packages are not the only thing that has been changed. If you look closely at the package below, you will notice that the smaller sayings on them have been changed too! Have fun with this project and make it as crazy and silly as you want. Always keep in mind, it needs to be school appropriate!
Make sure you have your parents permission before changing any of the packages in your house.
Take care and I can't wait to see what you have created.

Right before we left school we were learning about the different types of lines. When you are creating a drawing, you are connecting different lines to each other. It is important to know what kind of lines there are and how to draw them. Please review the lines that we learned about:

Nature Mandalas
🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎🌎
During this activity, you will explore more about the art principles UNITY & BALANCE. You will be using unity and balance to create a mandala. You can find a lot of mandalas exploring nature - spider webs, stars, many flowers like daisies & sunflowers, snowflakes, and tree rings. Be sure to look for Nature’s Art whenever you are outside.
Vocabulary:
♼Unity: The quality of having all the parts of an artwork look as if they belong or work together.
♼Balance: The arrangement of all parts of an artwork to create a sense of equality on all sides.
- ♼Radial Balance: is any type of balance based on a circle with its design extending from a center point. A star, the iris around each pupil of your eyes, a wheel with spokes, and a daisy are examples of radial balance
♼Mandala: A mandala is a circular structure with radial symmetry, meaning that the design radiates out symmetrically from the center.
Supplies: None Needed - You will find your objects in nature.
Directions: Nature Mandalas
🌲Step One: Go explore your yard or neighborhood (in safe places where you are allowed to go).
🌳Step Two: Collect natural things you can find in similar shape, color, and size.
- What you can use: Leaves, sticks (you can break up), grass, acorns, rocks, vines, & pine cones you find on the ground
- Ferns and flowers/flower petals (ask permission before picking)
- Having in groups of 4 or 8 will help with creating patterns.
- Clumps of dirt and sand can be used too.
🌴Step Three: Create your own Mandala.
- Choose materials/objects that can be repeated (make sure you have enough to repeat your design at least 4 or 8 times
- Look over the Outline of a Mandala to help organize your objects to create radial balance
- Start with one object in the middle and go outwards with your design.
➤Remember your mandala should repeat to demonstrate unity and radial balance. Double check if your objects all repeat correctly and have - similar size, shape, and color. And because it is nature, no two things are going to be EXACTLY the same.
🌳Step Four: Take a photo or two of your Art and text it to one of the our phone numbers
